soccer tips #2

I think my fingers have finally warmed up after last nights soccer practice/game.
huddled in bed i am thump pecking { is that even a word?}on the iPad so that might not be a truthful statement.
I ran out of time last night to add to my list of soccer tips for newbies.
Here's the first part in case your just joining the scrimmage.
Soccer tips #1
Last night

Mr. D is the one in the blue hood.
Figured during warm up I would let him run around in his hoodie.
Poor kid was freezing!
Truth be told I was too.

I remembered to bring my lawn chair and a blanket.
Even brought him a snack with our timmies "free donut" stub I had in my ashtray.
Not the healthiest of choices but it worked.

What I picked up last night
*size 2 is an incredibly popular cleat size thus it can be extremely challenging to locate. Four stores later I secured a pair or mr.d so make ure you pick up. Pair well in advance
* mittens & a warm hat. With the wind it's really cold.
* if your not going to take your kid to soccer don't register them. The coach gets pissed when only 5 kids out of 14 show up & if your running late let him know.
It's not fair to the kids who braved 40 k Winds to play.
* watch your feet.
Especially if your little one has never worn cleats.
Ouch!

soccer mom tips#1

As a newbie outdoor "soccer mom" it didn't take me long to realized that I am in over my head and totally unprepared.
Seriously.
These women have snacks.
I didn't know I needed to bring a snack.
There was nothing written in any of my correspondence referencing snack.
Totally mastered indoor soccer but am floundering with outdoor soccer.
You don't have to deal with weather, or bugs when you are sitting in a heated gym happily sipping on a vanilla bean latte watching your child running laps in a smell elementary school gym.
So, I am compilation a rookie's  "tips to outdoor soccer"  from all the new found information that I have gleaned from other moms.
This list will be added to weekly so don't get too excited.
You won't find all of them in one shot.

  • bring a chair & snuggly blanket.  Just because it was +25 before practice doesn't mean it is going to be toasty warm out at the field.
  • bug spray {yep, you should have seen the mosquito they were the size of bumble bees}
  •  snack....or your kid will be the only one watching the rest of them nibble away.
  • scope out where the game is going to be BEFORE the game so your not late.
And this is just the beginning of the season.
I wonder what I will learn on Thursday!!
