**yawn**
I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter {that wasn't anything like mine!!}
What a gong show.
Seriously.
We finally left home around 10 for a 3 hour drive down the highway to Nana and Papa's house.
We laughed, shared stories, listened to "star wars- the clone wars" episodes and were bombarded
"are we there yet?"
Now that is a funny question.
After being asked more times than we care to remember the answer kept growing.
From 1 hour to 3 hours to a day.
{snicker}
And of course we were just pulling into town when the "a day" answer surface.
I always wonder if my parents thought of answering us that way?
Oh and did I mention that both Giggles and Punky were running fevers of well over a hundred?
Yeah..throw that in too. By that point we were almost at a week solid of fevers.
Big Daddy and I decided on going for a beer run which can be more of an adventure than you realize on Good Friday. We found a place and when we opened the doors of our vehicle we were greeted with the aroma of "sandwiches" {As the crew from How I met your mother" would answer.}
We giggled a little then when in to the store to find what we were after.
To our amusement to learn that the 50+ female owner was the person who was out smoking pot in the parking lot.
Not what you would expect eh.
yeah me either.
Saturday we had a quick trip to the crossiron mills mall to pick up some Easter goodies.
My gosh has that ever turned into quite the challenging now that we have a teenager who isn't into toys.
I don't know if it's a trend or not but with all the candy we have already and knowing that we were about to be bombarded more {shudders}the Easter Bunny brings our kids toys.
We raced back to celebrated Easter dinner with a turkey dinner with all the trimmings.
All of us were there.
Bliss!
Then the kids gathered around the table to decorate an Easter house
Plus, we also created/participated in our Easter hunt.
I'm not sure how you do it but we have the kind of hunt where the kids have to read the clues and go and find the next egg. Loads of fun!
Great start to what ended up being a horrible night.
Between Giggles talking in her sleep/ coughing/ whining & much to our surprise. sleepwalking
{I found her fast asleep next to my nephew in my nephews crib} we also had a wrong number on the work cell phone and Punky was barking like a seal/crying in pain every time she coughed.
It was a restless night.
For awhile there I was sleeping on the floor next to the cool mist humidifier attempting to make her breath better. At 7:00 we gave up and packed her up and took her to the Alberta's Children Hospital in Calgary where they gave her some Dexamethasone ( A type of corticosteroid) for croup .
looking back on it but it took forever to start working!
I swear that was the quickest trip to the hospital ever taking only an 1 1/2 hour trip {including 30 min. driving both ways} we did pretty good.
We went back to my parents, had breakfast and packed up for home.
That's always fun....somehow we got everything down there but now we had to add 5 wicker baskets which I insisted on bringing home and two new baby gates for the day home.
We were packed and ready.
For the most part our trip went fairly well.
The kids played on the Nintendo 3ds or they watched He Man on the screen.
Punky finally fell asleep in her car seat giving us a small break.
Then Giggles puked.
All over herself, the van floor and in between the boxes of our new baby gates.
Ugh.
Needless to say I was no longer interested in lunch or coffee.
{and that says a lot when we are at tims!!}
So yes, we were that family in the tim hortons parking lot scrounging through a suitcase looking for clean clothing & foot wear.
I have never been so thankful for a full package of diaper wipes because they were the only thing I had to clean everyone/everything up.
{shudders} That was nasty!!
Thankfully she slept the remainder of the trip home but then Mr.D started once we got home.
We aren't sure if it's a flu {which I doubt} or if they both were feeling the effects of motion sickness but I am DONE!! {or if he is just like his mother and once he starts throwing up he can't stop}
Whatever the case may be...
I have never been so happy to be home!!
